Pic du Cap Roux

Another really beautiful excursion we can recommend during your stay at our villa Terre d’Azur is Pic du Cap Roux.

The red rock face of the Cap Roux is one of the most magnificent sites in the Estérel. From the orientation table at the summit of the rock (454 m) you will admire a panoramic view of the mountains plunging into the sea.
Although the volcanic activity in the Estérel ceased many millenia ago, it is still easy to imagine those primeval fires blazing as the setting sun casts a rosy glow on the Cap Roux.

This beautiful hike will give you superb views over the region and costline in an exotic setting. The trail is medium/easy and apart from the wide panorama you will savor the scents of the flowers and typical mediterranean vegetation: cork oak, maritime pine, heather and arbutus. The view overlooking the Estérel and the Mediterranean sea, including the Gulf of la Napoule, the bay of Cannes and Iles de Lerins, all the way to the Gulf of Fréjus is astounding!

Access: Drive from our villa direction Saint-Raphaël and take the seafront towards Agay. Just before the roundabout entering Agay, follow at your left the direction "Massif de l'Estérel", pass under the small bridge of the railway and immediatly passed the “Zone Artisanale” take on your right side the small road indicated "Massif de l'Estérel". Continue straight ahead and at the crossroads indicating "Col de la Barbe" or "Pic de l'Ours" turn right "Pic de l'Ours". At the junction indicating "Pic de l'Ours" or "Rocher de Saint Barthélemy" turn left "Pic de l'Ours". You will arrive at the (small) car park of "Sainte Baume".

Once arrived at the car park, climb the stairs leading to the chapel in the rock. Continue the path to the fountain (drinking spring water) and from there take the path on the right for 50m then take the path that goes up on the left. Everything is well marked and leads you to the summit of Cap Roux.
If you follow the small loop of the blue/yellow – bleu (col du cap roux) – blue/yellow – yellow signs, you will have an easy/medium trail of 4,3km or 2 hours walking with an altitude of 453m.
