Port Grimaud

A nice day trip from Villa Terre d'Azur is Port Grimaud in the bay of Saint-Tropez between St-Tropez and St-Maxime. With its kilometers of canals, fourteen bridges and twelve islands, this is a beautiful seaside resort reminiscent of the charms of Venice. Beautiful canals, brightly colored buildings and numerous nice restaurants make this little town a special place to visit. There are many gentle bars, cafes and restaurants with terraces close to the quay walls. The nice illumination from the houses and the town give the place a cozy atmosphere in the evening. The center of Port Grimaud is virtually car-free. Only residents and permit holders can pass the barrier with the car, tourists must make use of the car park located opposite the main entrance of the town and continue on foot or –why not- by boat from the central parking lot. The many canals in the village make everything easily accessible by boat.

During summer we recommend to take the “bateaux vert” to Saint-Tropez (departure from the church of Port Grimaud each 1/2h) to flavour the French Riviera lifestyle! First climb on the tower of the church to have a beautiful view over the bay of St-Tropez. Another option is to rent a boat at the church with which you can sail yourself through the 'streets' of Port Grimaud. From the water you can really enjoy the atmosphere of this town with its colorful houses with boats on their doorstep! After this do not forget to plunge down on one of the two beaches of Port Grimaud. The sandy beaches are beautiful and clean. You can also rent boats with which you can explore the entire coastline to swim and snorkel in shady bays and inlets.
