Saint-Tropez, a must-do daytrip from Villa Terre d'Azur!

Saint-Tropez's small-town feel and Mediterranean scenery easily charms its visitors with its beautiful pastel-colored houses situated on the Golfe of St Tropez with sandy beaches and beautiful rocky creeks. Nowadays it is a stylish seaside resort that draws tourists from all over the world but it was once just a humble fishing village. The town was made fashionable by the famous actress Brigitte Bardot in the 1950s and later on Romy Schneider and Jane Birkin and finally also Louis de Funés in the “Gendarme de Saint-Tropez”. The old police station is still close to the harbor on the Place Blanqui and, unlike the port, still the same as in the films.

The historic village offers an appealing old-world ambience of cobblestone streets, outdoor cafés and pleasant shady squares, while the picturesque harbor is filled with luxury yachts that belong to the jet-setting crowd drawn to the glitz and glamour. The port of Saint-Tropez is a place to see and be seen. If you read about the port of Saint-Tropez, it is often about which celebrities are seen on which terrace. The most famous terrace in the port of Saint-Tropez is that of the 120-year-old café Senequier. The red movie chairs on the terrace of the Senequier are still ideal to watch the people in the harbor. Not all restaurants are equally expensive in Saint-Tropez. You can also simply eat a pizza on the terrace of the pizzeria at the harbor on Quai Jean Jaures.

A not-to-miss affordable experience is to take a ferry from Bateaux Verts to the nearby Port Grimaud. The crossing takes half an hour. You can also sail to other places on the Côte d'Azur such as Saint Raphael, Cannes and Nice.

In addition to the various entertainment venues there are many beautiful spots in the city. You have cosy shopping streets near the old center and port such as Rue Gambetta and Rue Francois Sibilli and from the Citadel you have a nice view over the bay and harbor.

Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez: the beautiful modern and traditional sailing ships meet here yearly in September. They concur in several regatta's so you can easily admire them from the shore or you can follow the regatta's with the Bateaux Verts. Several yachts also offer to go on board.
